Meet Lauren
It was late 2020, and I was wedged between my bed and the wall, sobbing uncontrollably. The pandemic had already taken its toll, but this was something deeper. I felt broken, confused, and disconnected from myself. A small comment from my partner triggered a spiral, and for the first time, I admitted out loud that I wasn’t okay. I told him that I suspected my Mirena coil was affecting my mental health.
It wasn’t until I was dismissed by my GP, and told it was impossible to feel suicidal from such a small dose of hormones, that something shifted in me. I felt invalidated, and I also felt a spark of defiance. I knew my body and I knew something was wrong. So I asked her to remove it. Within six months, my period returned, my mood stabilized, and I tore up the antidepressant prescription I’d never filled. That moment marked the beginning of me learning to trust myself again.
When I started focusing on listening to my own instincts rather than deferring to others, ignoring my gut, or shrinking to make others comfortable everything began to change. I left a job at a start-up that no longer aligned and I spoke to women in different careers to work out what was next. With the encouragement of a close friend and coach, I began to dream bigger; I realized I wanted to help other women to reconnect with their intuition, their values, and their voice.
Transformation happens when you stop looking to everyone else for your decisions and opinions, and start learning to confidently trust yourself. That’s what I teach in my coaching practice because when women learn to advocate for themselves, everything changes.
I am a fully trained and accredited ICF coach and member, and have been officially coaching women since 2022.
